Cast Iron Trivet

Born in 1949 in Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan, Hisanori Masuda is a designer and artist. After graduating from Musashino University of Art, he worked as a studio assistant for 5 years under Prof. Mosuke Yoshitake. In 1997, he founded his studio, Chushin Kobo, in Yamagata City. Specialising in blending traditional Japanese cast iron aesthetics with a contemporary touch, Masuda uses iron, aluminum, and bronze for his designs. As a member of the Japan Craft Design Association, he also teaches at Tohoku University of Art and Design and Yamagata University.
