The Kemo Sabe album features bassist Osamu Kawakami, who has performed and recorded with leading J Jazz figures such as Sadao Watanabe, Isao Suzuki, and Kunihiko Sugano. Saxophone duties are handled by Toshiyuki Honda, leader of the popular fusion group Burning Waves, while drums are played by Donald Bailey, the acclaimed American drummer best known for his work on classic Jimmy Smith Blue Note sessions. Bailey lived and worked in Japan during the late 1970s, recording with local artists including Keiko Nemoto, Isao Suzuki, and George Kawaguchi.

Recorded at the height of the electric fusion era, Kemo Sabe is a firmly acoustic album, which may explain its modest sales and low profile at the time. The propulsive title track, written by New Zealand jazzman Mike Nock, was gifted to Nakajima-san following a brief meeting. This reissue also includes exclusive liner notes featuring an interview with Masao Nakajima, discussing his career and the story behind the album.
