- The Milky Way - Summer-Time Love Song
Originally released in Japan in 1979, Summer-Time Love Song by The Milky Way is a sought-after example of the sophisticated sound emerging from Japan’s city pop and AOR scene at the end of the decade.
Produced by guitarist and composer Makoto Matsushita, the album brings together a refined blend of AOR, jazz fusion, funk and bossa nova, featuring an impressive line-up of Japanese musicians including saxophonist Yasuaki Shimizu. The arrangements combine polished studio production with rhythmic grooves, jazz-inflected instrumentation and a distinctly Japanese take on late-’70s sophisticated pop.
