Tea grown in Chiran, finished with care.

Chiran, in the southernmost reaches of Kagoshima, produces some of Japan's most distinctive green tea — its soil and climate drawing out a depth of flavour that rewards a considered brewing process. This deep-steamed sencha, the Gin, is made by Nitao Chiran Tea Garden using their own deep-steaming method: a longer steaming time that softens the leaf, deepens the colour of the liquor, and rounds out any bitterness into something altogether more mellow.

The Gin is finished with far-infrared roasting — a technique that gently draws out the tea's natural sweetness and umami without diminishing its freshness. The result is a cup with a rich, concentrated green colour, a balanced depth, and a clean, quietly fragrant finish. Brewed well, it asks nothing more of you than a few minutes to drink it properly.

The packaging is printed using katazome — a traditional Japanese stencil-dyeing technique — giving each tin a considered, handcrafted character that suits what's inside.

Brewing Guide

For best results, use water cooled to around 70–80°C. Steep for approximately 60–90 seconds. Deep-steamed sencha brews quickly — a shorter steep time is recommended to preserve balance and prevent bitterness.
