Orquesta Del Sol - Rainbow Love

Formed by percussionist Masahito “Pecker” Hashida after his exposure to the New York salsa scene in 1977, Orquesta Del Sol fused Nuyorican salsa with the sounds of Tokyo’s studio musicians and New Music scene, creating a distinctly Japanese take on the genre.

Co-produced by legendary drummer Shuichi “Ponta” Murakami, the album moves between Japanese, Spanish and English vocals, combining original material with a standout version of Noro Morales’ “Rumbambola.”

This BBE Music reissue is the first worldwide vinyl of Rainbow Love and comes expanded with seven bonus tracks, including four covers of salsa favourites by Fania All-Stars, José Mangual Jr., Machito & His Orchestra and Libre.

Newly remastered and featuring the original Japanese liner notes translated into English, plus new notes by Japanese Latin music specialist Masashi Takahashi.

A key piece of the Japanese Latin music story - and a deep dig for fans of Japanese jazz, city pop, Latin and rare groove.
