Tyres: This model can accommodate a wide range of tyres, The standard ones that come fitted to the bike are good for daily commuting on smooth roads. If you're after a puncture proof option then go for Schwalbe Marathon tyres. For a softer ride and a classic aesthetic, the Pasela tyres are great (1.25 wide max. if you have mudguards or 1.5 wide if you dont). For more speed Gatorskins are a good option and for anything else just contact the store.
Mudguards are essential if you're planning to use the bike for daily commuting all year round but maybe not necessary for leisure riding in the warmer months.
A full chain guard usually isn't necessary but can be fitted if your clothing demands it or you like the traditional look!
Almost any rack or basket can be fitted so its useful to consider the weight of the load - heavier cargo on the back of the bike wont affect the handling so much as it does at the front. Ease of use is important too and with a basket you can simply drop your belongings and go.
Other considerations are the positioning - the lower (closer to the wheel) the weight sits, the better the handling. Where the bike is stored is important too - a stainless or galvanised finish will last longer than wood or rattan. And of course the aesthetics plays a part too.
We think the tokyobike basket best suits this model for a front option or the Wald 215 rack for the back.
The handlebars can dramatically change the ride and feel of the bike as well as the look.
This model comes as standard with a swept back, upright bar. For an even more sit up and beg position, the extra tall Technomic stem from Nitto is perfect.
If you are looking to ride further or faster, or after a cleaner look, then a straighter, narrower bar, works better. Something like the riser bar that comes with the CS26 model is popular.
