Happy birthday Origin Coffee! To help them celebrate 20 years we made them a tokyobike for use in and around their coffee shops.

Founded in 2015 in Tokushima, the birthplace of Japanese indigo, BUAISOU cultivates, dyes, and crafts products, merging all three distinctive skills.

With some new gardening tools from Japan, we gave the space some attention. Stop by this summer to step out the back, see the bikes, or take a quiet moment.

There may not have been any formal anthropological studies carried out but anecdotal evidence suggests you can tell a little about a city's cycling culture and its maturity from the riding position of its cyclists.

The Bisou step-through is elevated with wide Pasela tyres, a natural leather Gilles Berthoud saddle, and Nitto Choco handlebars wrapped in Samurai tape, while a Constructeur rack and Koma light complete the setup.

"I like the fact that I am using my body and energy directly to move this thing. It feels very similar to working with clay. I like the directness."

Mizuyo is a ceramicist and kintsugi repairer based in London and has owned a tokyobike for around 15 years. We caught up with her at her workshop in East London to chat a little about work and life.
