Color Nadeshiko (Vivid Pink)

A thread with centuries behind it.

Benibana — safflower — yields only a tiny fraction of pigment from each petal, making it one of the most labour-intensive natural dyes in Japanese tradition. For centuries it was reserved for the finest kimono and ceremonial cloth, prized for the quiet depth of its colour: tones that shift between soft yellow and deep crimson depending on how the light falls.

This sashiko thread carries that lineage. Dyed through repeated cycles of immersion and rinsing, the colour builds gradually and settles over time — softening with use, growing richer with each stitch. The slight natural fuzz of the cotton gives the thread a warmth that suits sashiko's unhurried rhythm.

Equally at home in visible mending, hand sewing, or decorative embroidery, it pairs especially well with indigo-dyed and unbleached cloth. Subtle variations in tone from skein to skein are not inconsistencies — they are the nature of the dye.

Made in Japan.
