Report: A Brief History of Japanese Reggae Pop
To mark the launch of our new record section we invited Kay Suzuki of Time Capsule for a deep dive into Tokyo Riddim. Through stories and select recordings, the session traced the journey of Jamaican and British reggae to Japan during the 70s and 80s, exploring how it shaped the country's distinctive reggae-pop, lovers rock, and city pop sounds.
Thank you to Time Capsule and Kay Suzuki for the records and the stories.
Thank you to Audio Gold for the special audiophile sound system that transformed our shop into an intimate listening space.
Thank you to Orion Beer, for keeping the evening flowing and thank you to everyone who came along - we're already looking forward to the next one.
